Each June, NeighborWorks America and its network of national organizations mobilize tens of thousands of volunteers, business people, neighbors, friends, and local and national elected and civic leaders in a week of neighborhood change and awareness.

As a NeighborWorks chartered member, Providence will kick off NeighborWorks Week 2016 on Saturday, June 4 at Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center! In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank and Morgan Stanley, and along with 504 HealthNet, Providence begins NeighborWorks Week 2016   with the Healthy Cities Initiative. The fun begins at 10 a.m. with a fitness activity and nutrition lesson, plus a free healthy food distribution, health screenings, giveaways and more.

Also during the NeighborWorks Week 2016 kickoff, Providence and co-developers Columbia Residential and general contractor, Block Builders LLC., will be hosting a forum for individuals interested in bidding the Sacred Heart project. The forum will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., in the multi purpose room at Sojourner Truth Neighborhood Center.

Later in the week, on June 11, the Faubourg Lafitte Tenants Association will host their first ever Community Crawfish Boil. Mark your calendar, grab your friends and come see what it’s all about!
