James R. Kelly, President & CEO
Kelly has served as CEO of Catholic Charities/Archdiocese of New Orleans, a $60 million dollar health and community service organization, since 2002. During his tenure, he has actively pursued the expansion of the agency's emergency, transitional and permanent supportive housing. Since Katrina, Catholic Charities has played a major role in the community's relief and recovery efforts, both on the service and advocacy fronts. As President of Willwoods Community during the 90's, Kelly oversaw the development of 300 units of assisted care living and the purchase, refinancing, and renovation of 1,500 affordable, mixed-income apartments in New Orleans. Malta Square on Canal Street, Holy Angels Apts. in the Bywater, and St. Ann Apts. in Tremé were award-winning historical conversions. In the 80's, he was Senior Vice President of Development and Communications for Covenant House in New York, and later Executive Director of their programs in New Orleans and Washington, D.C.
Kelly serves on numerous boards, including: Enterprise National Partners Advisory Board, Fannie Mae National Housing Advisory Council, Order of Malta (Washington D.C.), Louisiana Affordable Housing Alliance (co-chair), Louisiana Association of Non-Profit Organizations (vice-chair), UJAMAA CDC, Covenant House, First Bank and Trust CDC, New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative, Unity for the Homeless, and Capital One Community Renewal Fund.
Brenda Richard-Montgomery, Vice President of Homeowner Programs
Brenda Richard-Montgomery came to Providence from Capital One, where she served since 2004 as Vice President and Program Manager for the bank's Corporate Citizenship Department and handled CRA outreach and business development activities in Louisiana and Texas. For eight years, she directed the Department of Community Development for Jefferson Parish, managing a $7 million annual budget. During her tenure, she increased the development of affordable housing units by over 100 percent and facilitated the implementation of the Affordable Housing Task Force that developed a strategy to address local housing needs. She previously served a similar role for the City of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Among her civic activities, Richard-Montgomery has served as Director and Chair for UNITY for the Homeless of Greater New Orleans as well as Director of the New Orleans Neighborhood Development Collaborative since 2004. In 2004, the Bureau for Governmental Research recognized her with an Excellence in Government Award for her work.
Terri B. North, Vice President of Finance
In her previous dual role as a consultant for both the Archdiocese and Christopher Homes, North managed the refinancing and rehabilitation of 13 Section 202 Housing properties (1,200 units) serving the low-income elderly population. She also facilitated the development and implementation of an Archdiocesan Strategic Plan, analyzing the financial viability and needs of over 72 Archdiocesan elementary schools. Prior to her consultant work, North managed financial operations and provided financial analysis for Willwoods Community. She coordinated the financial structuring and participated in the redevelopment of low-income and elderly low-income housing communities using a combination of low-income housing tax credits, HOME funds, HUD Mark to Market debt, and private permanent mortgage debt.
North has also worked as a business support manager for Bank One Louisiana, N.A., a business relationship manager, a commercial loan assistant, and a commercial and real estate credit analyst. She graduated with a B.S. from Louisiana State University.
Michael Bauer, Vice President of Multi-Family Project Development
Michael recently served as President & CEO of the Louisville Real Estate Development Company, where he led the homeownership phase of the award-winning Park DuValle project, a $200 million public/private partnership development with 600 multi-family and 450 single-family homeownership units. Prior to that, Michael was responsible for land acquisition and development for The Housing Partnership, Inc. He owned and operated Bauer Enterprises, Inc, a construction company in Louisville, for 6 years. He has also worked as managing owner of Integrity Home Builders, LLC, a diversified building company for whom he partnered with many local agencies to complete public-funded projects, including LREDC, KHC, HUD, and the Housing Authority of Louisville.
Michael has served on the boards of the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors, the Louisville Real Estate Development Company, and the Associated Building Contractors. He holds a BSBA in Finance from the University of Louisville.
